The Glass Sessions Podcast
The Glass Sessions is a weekly light-hearted business podcast hosted by the two Principal Advisors of The Glass Advisory, Courtney and Lauren. They are two best friends who met working their first adult jobs in customer service back in 2012 and have been navigating work and life side by side ever since. Over the years, they’ve climbed the corporate ladder, built and led high-performing teams, and tackled the challenges of leadership, burnout, and reinvention - all while sharing plenty of laughs along the way.
Each Glass Session brings you behind the scenes with real stories, sharp insights, and honest takes on what it actually looks like to grow in today’s professional world: the good, the messy, and everything in between. From leadership lessons to career pivots, it’s the advice you didn’t know you needed, from the friends you wish you had at work.
New episodes are released weekly on Wednesdays. Subscribe on Apple, Spotify or anywhere you listen to podcasts.
Putting Your Performance Review Into Action (Part 1)
So, you’ve survived performance review season. The meetings are done, the feedback is delivered, and the document is signed. Now what? For most people, the review gets filed away in a digital drawer, never to be seen again until next year. But if you want to actually grow your career (and make next year’s review a breeze), this is exactly where the real work begins.
In this episode of The Glass Sessions, we kick off a two-part series on how to turn that static document into a dynamic roadmap for your year. We break down the immediate steps you need to take to move from feedback to clarity, ensuring that you aren't just "busy" this year, but impactful.
Understanding The Effects of Power At Work With Nik Kinley
We often think of "power" in the workplace as something reserved for the CEO or the boardroom, but the truth is, power dynamics are at play in almost every interaction we have. Whether you are managing a team of ten, leading a project, or just trying to influence a decision, power is shaping how you think, feel, and act—often without you even realizing it.
In this episode of The Glass Sessions, we are joined by Nik Kinley, a London-based leadership consultant and psychologist with a fascinating background. With over 35 years of experience, Nik has worked with everyone from CEOs and royalty to criminals in his time as a forensic psychotherapist. He joined us to discuss his latest book, The Power Trap: How Leadership Changes People and What to Do About It, and to break down the science of how authority physically and psychologically rewires our brains.
What To Do When You And Your Manager Disagree On Your Performance
Performance review season can be stressful enough on its own, but what happens when you sit down, open your review, and realize your manager’s perception of your work is completely different from your own?
In this episode of The Glass Sessions, we unpack how to navigate that sinking feeling when feedback feels misaligned.
The Case For Continuous Learning
In a world where industries evolve overnight and new tools emerge daily, the idea of "finishing" your education is a myth. To stay relevant and fulfilled in your career, learning must be a lifelong habit, not a one-time event.
In this episode of The Glass Sessions, we explore why continuous learning is the ultimate career insurance. We break down the difference between "just-in-case" and "just-in-time" learning, how to build a curriculum for yourself without going back to school, and why curiosity is the most underrated soft skill you can develop.
Why Mentorship Matters: A Conversation with our Mentor Bob Schweitzer
Navigating a career can feel lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned executive, having someone in your corner to help you navigate tricky decisions, offer a fresh perspective, and cheer you on is invaluable.
In this conversation, we break down what makes a mentor-mentee relationship truly work. From the difference between formal programs and organic connections to the surprising ways mentorship benefits the mentor just as much as the mentee, we cover it all.
Manage Change Like a Pro
Change in the workplace is UNCOMFORTABLE. Whether it’s a re-org, an acquisition, or a shift in strategy, our natural defensive habits often take over - building walls, avoiding difficult conversations, or holding in frustrations until we blow up.
In this episode of The Glass Sessions, we break down how to identify exactly where you stand in the face of change and how to move toward a position of influence and stability.
